About a week ago the Wall Street Journal ran an article about the perils of cycling. As I understand it the article was about penile dysfunction. Ho Hum. Of the many responses to that article this one is my favorite:
It’s my understanding that people who remain active cyclist have a life expectancy ten years longer than the broader population.
Beyond that, life has depth and breath as well as length. Life can’t be measured along a single dimension. As a hospital chaplain I work with dieing people every day. Pretty consistently I see that people who feel good about the life they had and lead tend to let go of it with grace and dignity.
