The trailing credits rolled up on the video. We looked at each other. “That was great!” Then …
You want a ride?
Sweetie? You’re feeling better? (she’s been sick)
The videos are due tonight
Oh, that kind of ride. One of my favorites. A quick zip up to Woodstock and the video store. It’s one of my top three bike errands.
Sure, that’d be great.
You don’t have to, I can just pay the late fees.
Nah, it’s fine. It’ll be nice.
It was warm earlier in the evening, over 60°F/16°C. Cooled off quite a bit since then. The streets are empty and quiet. There are only a couple of cars and a group of five Reed students out and about on Woodstock. The Safeway parking lot has a few cars. The sound of diners and music flows out through the open door of the Delta Cafe. That’s the only life out tonight.
I drop the videos and pedal quick. It’s cool out and I need the exertion to stay warm. I’m enjoying the ride my wife suggested.
