New Scientist published A future with no bananas? The genetic base of bananas has collapsed. Virtually all the world supply is based on one seedless variety that is propagated through cuttings. It is being threatened by pandemics of diseases such as that caused by the black sigatoka fungus.
No more bananas? If that came to pass it would be a massive industrial food mistake.

No bananas? Nooooo!
Thanks to a digestive disease, Bananas are one of the few raw fruits I can tolerate and actually convert into useable energy. I could not imagine a future without them.
A massive bummer.
Which company should we picket/boycott?
Ugh.
